On April 1, 2023 PCAF’s Board and leadership, together with valued members of the community, hosted another of several engagement workshops to discuss a new strategic path for South Puget Sound’s premier BIPOC-led organization. Artist Hugo Moro transformed PCAF’s gallery into a dystopian greenhouse, inhabited by glistening and surreal vines, ferns, and flowers created entirely of hand-dyed recycled plastics. As an individual and an artist, he began to question his carbon footprint through his usage and choices of materials, techniques, and modes of transporting productions. As he committed to the two-year process of creating the installation components, he identified with cultural workers globally who engage in the practice of upscaling materials to meet the need and demand of others.
